2025 Mid-Year Financial Update

WCC Financial Update – July, 2025

First of all, we want to say thank you for your faithful giving in support of the ministry of WCC! We are excited about the direction WCC is moving, living out our vision of connecting to people, growing together and elevating God.

As we said in our April financial communication, the Finance Team and Elders agreed to providing a financial update each quarter as one of several ways to have healthy, open communications about our finances. Later in July we will send mid-year giving statements for your reference. Look for those in your email, and please review them for accuracy.

Adjusted Giving

Each week in the worship folder, we provide a financial snapshot of giving, showing our total giving and also an adjusted giving number. I want to explain what the adjusted number is, and why we provide it. While many of us give weekly or monthly, some families provide their annual giving at the beginning of the year. This helps our cash position early in the year, but when we compare our year-to-date giving vs budget, we look to be in a better position than we really are. The adjusted giving number includes the portion of those annual gifts that we would have received if given monthly. For example, annual gifts of $36,000, equivalent to $3,000/month would be included in the March adjusted giving number as $9,000 ($3000 monthly x 3 months). Comparing the adjusted giving to budget then gives a view that better predicts where we will be by the end of the year.

Current Giving Update

At our annual meeting in February, we adopted a Ministry Funding Plan with a 6.5% increase in giving. Looking at the numbers through July, our total giving is $146,398, well over our Plan of $135,714. However, the adjusted giving is $123,948, which is 3% higher than this time last year, but $11,767 below the 2025 Plan. If this trend continues through the remainder of the year, that will mean a $23,500 shortfall for the year.

On a positive note, our ministry funding plan assumed that Valor Academy would not be returning for the 2025-2026 school year. Instead, Laurel Community school has agreed to use our facility next school year. They are a Christian “micro-school”, with fewer students than Valor, and a 5 day school week. This unplanned rental income should provide us with funds for some much needed facility maintenance items: replacement of 3 windows in the multi-purpose room, and possibly new carpet also in the MPR. The Finance team is currently evaluating options for these items.

Please Pray!

Finally, we ask that everyone at WCC pray. Pray that God will provide all we need to do his work. Prayerfully consider your giving as well. Pray that God will enable each of us to give generously to the work he is doing here at WCC.

Again, we thank you for your generosity. God has faithfully provided for this church, and we trust in Him to continue to use us in His Kingdom work.

Blessings,

Greg Faessler, Treasurer
