Compassion Ministries

We are the church:

serving, growing, connecting together

- for the glory of God.

God has stirred the hearts of so many at Woodbury Community Church to spread Christ’s love in our community by reaching out specifically, as we feel Christ through scripture calls us to do, to orphans, widows, refugees, prisoners and the oppressed. In addition to the ministries described below, WCC also reaches out -- through children’s ministry, youth ministry, small groups, service days and other efforts -- to serve organizations including Woodbury Villa Senior Living, Urban Ventures, Feed My Starving Children and more.

Isaiah 58:6-7 says,

6 “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:

to loose the chains of injustice

and untie the cords of the yoke,

to set the oppressed free

    and break every yoke?

7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry

and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—

when you see the naked, to clothe them,

and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf (CCEFS)

Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf provides food, personal care items and other resources to people in crisis throughout Woodbury, Oakdale, Landfall and South Maplewood. WCC partners with CCEFS by supporting its work with volunteers, cash donations and food donations, as well as by sharing its story with others in the community to help broaden its donor base.

Refugee Life Ministry

Refugee Life Ministries gives the church the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Christ to newly-arrived refugee families in both word and deed. The ministry works to meet these families’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs as they acclimate to their new home in Minnesota, whether through mentoring, relationship-building, and/or providing support with needs such as budgeting, home maintenance, shopping and job search assistance.

Share Because You Care

Share Because You Care demonstrates Christ’s love by providing personal care items and caring visits from WCC to residents of a nearby government-subsidized senior housing complex. With very limited income, residents must pay for nonprescription medications, medical co-pays, personal care items, clothing, phone, stamps and more. WCC brings hope and companionship through activities, events and provision of everyday needs.

Kozefò is committed to supporting a primary school in the Pernier community of Port au Prince in Haiti. As an organization, Kozefò is bringing about positive change in education: supporting the school, providing excellent teachers and assisting with the operating needs. We have room to grow and we've been able to add teachers and students each year. Kozefò provides opportunities for people to go on short-term mission trips, raise funds through an annual 5K, sponsor schoolchildren each school year, and provide a daily meal and water to the students.
